streaming Internet radio is unreliable

When I use Xion to stream one of the FM stations the playback hiccups when I open email windows, or newsgroup messages, etc. I don't know if Xion needs a higher CPU priority or if it needs to buffer the content more to protect the audio stream? This doesn't happen if I listen to Internet radio through the browser or using Winamp. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Hi Victek,

What version of Windows are you using? If it is XP, you could try modifying the process priority of Xion.exe although by default it is set to High so this shouldn't be a problem.

Do you have a particular skin loaded that is perhaps consuming a lot of CPU?

I'm using the "bearclaw" skin at the moment on WindowsXP SP2. When I view the Xion thread in the task manager CPU utilization is very low - zero to 2%. I also confirmed that my video card and soundcard are using different IRQ's.

are you using onboard sound? and have latest drivers?

i noticed sound issues similar to yours on one of my skins while changing the colours which are on a delay and with onboard sound which until then had performed without issue
despite getting latest drivers for onboard it still persisted
have put back in my audigy2 a few weeks back and dont get that issue any longer

I have an Audigy 2 soundcard also. "On board" sound is disabled in the BiOS.
