Progress or Volume?

Just a bit of research. If you had to choose between a progress slider or a volume slider on an 'essentials' skin mode, which would be more beneficial? My initial thoughts were that progress has the edge since you can adjust volume with windows or your speaker system. But ctrl + arrow keys lets you seak progress easily too and volume is probably used slightly more. So I don't know which to go with.

Thoughts? Cheers.

i use the volume WAY more than progress.

volume represented in a small space is easily done with a rotating knob et al, whereas a progress knob doesn't make much sense.

There's a reason volume controls are part of the guidelines, but progress isn't.

People simply don't touch progress unless they're after something specific. Usually, they skip a song completely if they don't like it.

I use mouse wheel for volume, so totally negate the ui ;)

I agree with volume. I rarely scrub through a song and if I'm checking to see if the song is ending soon, I just look at the time left.

I'm with SLoB, I just use the wheel for volume too and these days I generally just look at the display text to see what volume % it's set at.

I never touch volume (powered speakers with volume control) and only use progress. In other players, I quickly look for a way to block the mouse wheel for volume.

While it is nice you have firm ideas what works for you, don't assume it works for everyone. Fortunately, with Xion's skins, it's easy enough to go in and mod it to suit your needs.

Thanks for the hard work, Cliff, and I hope to see continued development.
