Xion Audio Player

Xion Features and Bug Reports

General Discussion about Xion Audio Player

Hi all,

So I'm currently drowning in Feature requests and some bug reports.

It's very difficult to manage and track features and bugs in a forum as people sometimes randomly mention things somewhere within a thread. While I read every post, I sometimes forget or lose track of where they were. Later on people are then confused why their request didn't make it into a build.

I did add the 'Suggest a Feature' link in the bottom right corner to help with feature requests, but most people still ignore this or I get anonymous spam or requests like 'Please make a Voltron skin' come through.

I believe this is because it's available on every page. This was just a test of that system. For full integration with their system I believe I have to pay many $$$ which I obviously can't since I don't make any money from Xion.

Therefore I'm thinking about creating a Feature and Bug system (very basic) that ties into the forum system, similar to what I did with the skin system. This way I can avoid the anonymous spam and keep the entire thing on an appropriate page on the site, instead of every page where users get confused.

That way when you want to suggest a feature you can see if it has already been requested and if not, submit a request.

I also want to allow you to use thumbs up and thumbs down on feature requests. At the same time I'll categorize bug reports and order them in priority so you can see what I'm working on and in which builds they're likely to be fixed in.

I've investigated a few pre-made options for this but all the systems are just far too complex for my needs or don't integrate well with the existing systems in place. I hate rewriting code like this, but I can't see any other way right now, especially since the one I've tried isn't working out so well anyway.

Anyway I'll get to that hopefully soon.

In the mean time, go easy on the requests. I'm just one guy behind the scenes and I do work on multiple projects.

Cliff :)

I was wondering when you were gonna implement an ordered system to all this.

Surely some sort of bugtracking system seen with git projects and the like could be of use?
I shoot and ask questions later.

Take no offense of it.

What about using Bugzilla? Used it in the past and it's good.

I'll take a look but again, they're complicated, require their own login systems and are difficult to theme. I just want everything to work together and doing that with external systems can be a nightmare.

Good luck in finding what works best for this community, then. I'm sure you'll find something viable.
