Skin submission

What is the usual time between uploading a skin to actual post time? Just asking incase there would need to be a retry on the upload again.

I've uploaded a skin "MiniWMP" and I'm not sure if it's been recieved yet. Do we generally get some type of e-mail reply letting us know if it's been excepted or not?

I'm an admin for boxshots.org (screenshot and news site for the bb4win project) and I'm assuming the submission process is similar as far as a style awaiting approval.

Thanks Gordan. I still wish I knew how to include the Author info in the about box. That hinders the ability to post to other sites.

No it doesn't. When you submit to other sites such as dA or Winmodify, you get full credit. Why do you want your name in the application itself? Put your name somewhere small in the preview.

I'm just being sure of how the about box works.

But I just checked the about box for other installed skins and found my answer.
I just misunderstood how the about box worked that's all and never noticed the "Skin by" never changes no matter the skin. So, my appologies for all the inquries in to that subject :)

So, I'm off to post...

Hi Nightbreed,

I saw your skin along with several others this morning as I was on my way out and I will add them tonight.

I work on r2 Studios support, programming, etc in my spare time.

I do send back emails to let you know I have received the skin after it has been added.

I havn't made the contact page send you an email to let you know i've received it yet as I didn't want to give spammers yet another email address. I may however make a noreply email address that will simply be used to notify successfull submissions, however I believe that if just a couple of users blacklist it on spamcop, etc then a fair amount of users won't get the email anyway.

As for the About box, that is just for the skin author that made the Default Xion skin. Feel free to include a readme.txt or author.txt within your .xsf file (a renamed .zip file)

I could probably add support for reading this file in the future, so that users can view information on the skin

Cliff :)

Thanks much Cliff. Blackbox uses a sort of blacklist deal at boxshots, blocking IP addresses and such, but you know those freakin proxy apps ;)..

Anywho.. again, thanks
