Is their a way to "show" the playlist on the main screen, without having to open it up? I want to make a jukebox style skin.

Currently not possible. Perhaps in the future, whenever that occurs.

The idea of a single, uniform skin, incorporating all the elements, has been suggested. The implementations have also been discussed, but to my knowledge, the final solution was not settled and it is therefore left open, and is now somewhere down in the pipeline of Cliff's todo list.

I think Cliff is currently working on that actually (an SUI), or at least toying with it.

It's definitely one of the next things I want to do.

Although I haven't figured out if that's before or after hardware support. SUI's will probably cause a large drain on the CPU if everyone will be making larger skins!

Cliff :)

I still want hardware support above all because i have a massive fetish for fullscreen media players with 82 pixel fonts and anti aliasing to try and kill my computer whenever possible.

Even I can't tell if you're kidding about that :P

Another thing that's held me off the hardware update, is that it'll mean that Xion won't work on Virtual machines (and other systems where a 3d device isn't supported). Generally virtual machines don't have a proper hardware directx device and therefore Xion will fail to render.

You could build in mode detection? ie. if Xion detects no hardware acceleration, default to software mode?

I can't really think of a whole lot of reasons why Xion wouldn't work. Majority is still on Windows, and OSX/Unix/Linux can't render it at all, anyway. And how many people want to run their music player in a virtual machine of Windows? I mean, there'd have to be some really odd reasons why one could not do that on the host instead.

Answering the original post, it seems to me like you could trigger your Playlist to open/unfold/ whatever by linking the toggle playlist layer with, say, "indi_play" ???? Maybe you could make the toggle playlist button transparent, but trigger it when the player is actually playing music.....thataway, your playlist reveals itself then. But I still can't see how to actually merge the main player with the playlist. Like everyone else said, it's not doable yet.
