Keyboard Shortcuts and Replace Files

Feature Requests and Ideas

Postby Scarebear » October 3rd, 2006, 10:33 pm

I hope I'm not just missing it, but is there a shortcut key for 'Select All' in the playlist? Most apps I use have the 'Ctrl + A' combination, but this seems to take me to the top of the list.

Also, is there an option to have the 'open' button (on appropriate skins) replace files in the playlist instead of add to the playlist? If not, could a button be added that allowed you to replace the playlist with the files you select?

Thanks :)

Ah, that's something I missed. The right click menu has select all, but I will have to add the keyboard shortcut for it as well. I will have it ready for the next beta release :)

There isn't as yet, however I could add such an option. I just wonder if it might be confusing for the user to have some skins add, and some skins replace. I may just implement it as an option in the playlist options. What do you think?

Good news on the keyboard shortcut :) Thanks.

QCD (which I've been using up until now) has a similar system which makes sense to me. The default 'open' button provides a menu like the one in Xion asking if you'd like to open files, a folder or a CD. Using this button replaces the playlist with your new selection. Then on the playlist you have a button which allows you to add files to the existing playlist. These files get added to the playlist instead of replacing them. All other media players I've used in the past have used the 'open' button this way — replace existing files unless adding through the actual playlist.

That doesn't make it the best way of course ;)
