Ok, after giving it some more though, I don't think giving the skin author control over a personal preference is a good idea. Like SLoB said, some people like it one way, others like it the other way. It would really suck if you got used to holding down shift for no squabble, then on a new skin, now you have to remember not to hold shift. Or vice versa. If it changes per skin its just confusing.

People have expressed their opinion on the basis of functionality, not whether it fits in with a particular skins theme (except for Lance, but its his skin ;)). As Lance raised, this is such a small item as well. You mainly listen to music, not skip through it. I think we've had more discussion on this, than the Skinnable Playlist!

Its similar to an application decidind to flip the mouse buttons depending on how the designer felt about left/right handedness.

So:

No shift, you get squabble, as always. Hold shift down, you get to shift the position with no squabble. Skins won't have control over it. Its a personal preference. No existing skins need to change.

well , from this discussion, obviously it´s on the user, if he likes or dislikes to hear the noise. I, persaonally, don´t care about it, though I prefer a bit the "with sound" option. So why not add it to the configuration of xion? and then YOU are happy, because it was YOUR decision...

Well that's what holding shift does. If you like the squabble, don't hold shift. If you don't like it, hold shift.

No need for another option to clutter the config windows.

The thing about these tiny tricks is that they have to be well documented somehow.

I doubt i'll even remember the shift trick more than a week after reading this topic. Such a small detail will just go to waste. And then we start getting people who keep asking if there's a way to turn it off, because nobody bothers to read.

Documentation would be nice, are you volunteering logokas? I can even setup a wiki for it to allow people to contribute ;)

How about everyone be positive for a while instead of so negative :P

Noo!

Only negativity makes sense! Look!

------------ Straight and logical

++++++++ controversible and self challenging

Being positive is too confusing. :<

I'm happy :)

Not that you should care that I am or anything, just wanted to say...

Peace, Lance

well, as I said , I don´t really care about it. It was just a proposal...

and I don´t think people are negative here. It´s just a discussion to find solutions. I don´t think comments like "hey cool, it´s so great" are constructive in a context like this :P

we have a wiki already going for Xion over @ SC
If anyone wants to contribute let us know

of course there is the old thing of putting it in the manual which the normal reply is to RTFM ;)
We can of course also put it in a sticky and that will also tell users to RTFM lol ;)

The feature was already added. Pay attention, jeez.

the way it was added doesn't work, i still here a little bit of noise (not distinguishable and deff not the song.) and shift doesn't do anything, so I think it should go back to the way it was and just add the shift for silent seeking. to my understanding he changed 109 to have the silent seeking first (if you read the threads in order) but in my case I hear neither I just get little staticy sounds every so often while seeking....

No, silent seeking was finalized as the Shift key method.

In build 109, if you hold shift, then start dragging the progress you shouldn't hear anything. As soon as you release the left mouse button to stop dragging it should immediately seek there.

Well then consider this a bug report, because when I DONT hold shift i hear nothing, and when I HOLD shift I hear little let-outs of sound, I dont actually hear the song itself as I seek, I just hear little static noises...in build 109.
