put volume low, move a track forward any amount with progress slider, volume then increases (seems to be at 100%) but volume markers still report original low volume

Did you pause the track first, or have it stopped? Is this a radio or local stream?

I can't reproduce here so there must be a step I'm missing.

standard local or network drive mp3

while the track is playing lower the volume
drag the progress slider (in this case left to right) (altho not sure if its specific to slider orientation atm) and the volume will shoot up once the track has repositioned itself

I can't reproduce that here at all. Doesn't matter which orientation I use for the progress bar, or the volume bar. Works 100% here. Must be something else that's causing.

Perhaps the Output device? Which version of Windows?

SLoB, make sure to remove all lazy cats from the keyboard before starting playback 8)

If it helps, I can't reproduce this either

hmm, didnt have an issue with this in previous builds, altho didnt test for it in beta builds

windows xp home - same as ever
SB Audigy Audio [8000] - same as ever
clean install - same as ever

for example using forcefields core skin, altho im using a new sc skin atm so its not skin related afaik
set volume on a track that is playing to approx 3-5% (doesnt matter wot u set it to really but this is just for maximum ouput example)
now slide the progress thumb to wherever in the track and bang, its as loud as 100% yet volume songticker or other sliders not changed
