I seem to remember reading a while back about the possibility of layer effects being added such as overlay. Is this still the case?

That hasn't been implemented yet. As it's all rendered in software it would just impact the rendering speed and make skins render slower.

I think there are some tricks you can use to replicate some effects in the mean time.

New Alpha build 148 is up. Fixed skins installing but not opening when double clicked. Also potentially fixed the save states not saving on close.

The main thing I was really looking to do is have the visualization over the album artwork and have the visualization color be overlay or something similar of the album artwork color.

Where can the alpha builds be downloaded?

the sliders for specband and specbandpeak freeze when mute is engaged -- in my book, those visuals should continue as normal (since the media is in fact still playing) regardless of volume. and if stop is pressed while mute is engaged they still stay frozen until mute is off.. only then do they return to zero.

also, when mute is engaged: if the play, previous or next is used there is a brief burst of audio.

Thanks, these are fixed for the next release :)

Hi Cliff

I've made a test skin of the main from 1.5.150 for testing of transvolumers.
Sadly issue from previous version appears in the newest one as well. Maybe you fixed something else.

TEST SKIN made of "main" from 1.5.150

Please take a look at this Cliff. I made it as simple as possible and easy to test.

Description:

It's main skin where I removed everything beside base, preview, close, play/pause and stop button.

I've added:

- 2 trans_volumer layers (both layers are "not visible" and svst)
- 1 Animation svst:
{show trans_volumer 1
stop
hide trans_volumer 1
show trans_volumer 2
stop
hide trans_volumer 2
stop}
- button that activates animation

Problem arise when restarting paused or stopped Xion
Transvolumer will not show up after restart if song was earlier paused or stopped but it will show up when Xion was closed while playing.

Now check this out:
If i disable "Restore play mode on Startup" and then close Xion while it's playing music obviously music will be stopped next time I start Xion. BUT when I press Play Transvolumer shows up which means transvolumer didn't get disabled in this case.

Transvolumer doesn't show up only when user stops or pause music and restarts player afterwards.

I hope this simple test skin and my short description will give you clear picture of the problem.

Thank you very much, it's awsm :D
I'm also glad I could help a little.

There is at least one more issue with save state similar to this one but I will just post it in correct "Bugs (Release Build)" section.
