Xion 1.0 build 76 Beta Release

PostPosted: March 7th, 2007, 11:15 pm
by Cliff Cawley
WARNING:
This is a Beta Build. That means it has fixes and features that are NEW. It is also possible it has bugs that are NEW! If you are looking for stability, please don't expect this build to be perfectly stable. It may have issues. If on the other hand you are happy to try this build out and post any bugs back in this thread, then please do!

Download Installer Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b76.exe
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b76.exe

Download Portable Device Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b76.zip
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b76.zip

Changelist:
  • Fix crash when viewing file information on a blank playlist - Thanks SLoB!
  • Fix problems with reading Title from id3v2 Tags.
  • Fix the Netbuffer not working after the station has loaded.
  • Add support to modify() for multiple targets
  • Ensure that the file info dialog gets focus when created so that pressing escape allows instant cancel
  • Ensure double clicking CD drive in Library loads up the Track listing in the playlist

If you find bugs specifically related to this build, please post them here instead of the Bug reporting forum. Any feedback positive or negative should also go in here, no new threads. This way all feedback, etc related to this build will be in the one place.

I've included 'Xion Portable' in the downloads list which is a .zip file with no installer and with no File Type registration or Registry access at all. This is so that users can run it from a USB device without needing to install anything. Other than that the builds should be identical. Let me know if you find any issues! Thanks!

Enjoy!

Cliff :)

buffering/net buffer on mp3s seems really really slow compared to the last build, also mp3s are stopping short at about that 70-80% mark altho the song has fully buffered

radio stations (when they do buffer) do goto the 100% mark

Cliff is is possible to add ctl+u in the playlist for urls?

something i've not noticed before is the progress bar & netbuffer on an mp3
if you move the progress bar it moves the netbuffer amount, indeed it works the opposite way so as the track nears the end the netbuffer is reduced, it does increase to 100% if 00:00 on progress altho the song

another pl bug
in pl add in a url of an mp3, when its in the pl select it, copy it and paste it as many times you like, this then creates multiple lines of the same track, now goto click on any of them and they all buffer (think its just the 1 track buffering and not all of them tho but its still displaying as buffering and counting up)
they behave as single tracks on next track, ie it rebuffers but still displays all the clones the same as buffering
shouldnt be possible to copy from the pl or paste into?

modify() on multiple targets works a treat Cliff :)

ran into a small thing tho, cant hide the 2nd layer set that has been switched with the multiple targets, the following keywords only work on layers
action_layer_hide Hides the specified layer. Use modify(x) before using this.
action_layer_show Shows the specified layer. Use modify(x) before using this.

fadein, fadeout are supposed to work on animation sets but dont fadein/out if using a layer in a cycle with modify(youranimationsetid) fadeout
they must only work on the layerset itself?

deffo need something like action_layerset_hide/show, hope thats a quickie or fadein/out broken?

slight bug with trans_volumel/r layers i think, if you have these set to shown and then modify with action_layer_hide they still show and fade in/out as nothing has happened

expected behaviour if hidden is to stop these layers from fading in/out until shown again

I can crash Xion by clicking the 'next' button a few times, or by using the hotkeys. It's not a particular song or playlist that's doing it - I've tried multiple. It doesn't seem to be consistent either - once it happened after 3 songs, once after about 20.

I've never experienced this problem before this build.

Update: Xion just crashed again, but this time I didn't do anything - it just switched songs, played maybe 1/2 second, then crashed.

Update2: The playlist I've got going now has 1570 songs. When I do a filter & cut it down to 3 songs, I can flip through songs until I'm blue in the face & I get no crashing.

It could very well be something that I'm just doing wrong... but when i open the simple library, and double click the CD drive, and the cd begins playing, indi_cd doesn't appear to work. I made sure it was visible and spelled correctly, etc... Could someone else double check on this?

Ok, I fixed the buffering. BASS has 2 ways to load URLS. You can either download the entire thing which then allows seeking but loads the whole thing in, and consumes more memory, or you can stream it similar to a radio station, which starts playing it faster, but removes the ability to seek.

I've now changed it to the latter, so that should fix issues to do with the net buffer not working correctly, as well as with the song starting faster.

I've added the Ctrl+U shortcut for you as well :)

Thanks pickle,

I think the crashes are related to the new tags library i'm using. I've made some tweaks, so let me know how it goes for you in build 77 (when its out)

I believe I've fixed this for the next build, however I'm unable to test it as it appears that my CD drive has packed it in! I will have to get a new one soon, but the fix I made should work :)

Yeah Sydney was awesome :D

I usually try to fix all bugs/issues raised. I still have to look into some of the other ones you've raised from the previous build ;)

cool :)

library
possible to copy and paste the same radio stations and cds multiple times which might throw a wobbly at some point, its not crashed tho

playlist
also possible to copy and paste multiple tracks from various sources, internet streams for same file buffer every line thats pasted but only plays the one file, again no crashes

not sure on what's the std behaviour for the above?
think the library should not allow pasting of multiple contents its already got?

Ah yes, the Library needs to have copy and paste disabled. It was basically a snapshot of the early playlist code so it still has some 'features' from the playlist.

Other than that the copying and pasting of the playlist items I will have to investigate. I know the playlist updates any similar items at the same time, but I may make it only update the current double clicked song.
