I don't quite understand where the taskbar would help make it any more user friendly.
If it weren't for dedicated media keys on keyboards, I would only control media players on-screen. I never use hotkeys, and I learned to love WMP's taskbar form.
Even so, Xion doesn't have a dedicated taskbar plugin. One could be added though, i suppose, but i found it to be unwieldy on WMP as it required another extra few dozen megabytes of my resources, and added a bit more lag in some situations.
Just to clarify, do you mean the Taskbar Button or Taskbar Toolbar?

Why don't you just move the Xion Interface to somewhere on your screen and mark it as Always on Top? Then its floating above all your other windows and you can always see it?

Or you can right click and 'Show Xion'.
Really, a whole taskbar button is a waste for a music player.
I asked for a button taskbar because I think that is enough for me, and a taskbar player could be a lot of work.
I'm not satisfied with double cilck. Don't you hear a short pause when you doble click the system tray icon? And I can't drag audio files to the taskbar button, wait a few seconds, and then drop them in the player.
The taskbar button can be an optional plug-in.
But if it's all about performance I think I can desist

I'll add support for this in the next version and make it optional as some people really like that its only in the tray, while others like yourself would also like it in the task bar.
