Xion Audio Player

Xion 1.0 build 109 Beta Release

Beta Builds of Xion. These are builds that are not quite ready for Release, but need feedback and bug submissions in order to move it to Release Status

djinn2 Wrote:The playlist only displays the track times for tracks that have/are playing, this includes the total time at the bottom of the window. Has this ever worked with the skinnable playlist? I can't recall. Also 'refresh all track times' clears the times that are there and just reads the current track.

Thanks djinn2, all fixed now for build 110!

This has worked, but it broke due to the unicode changes. Its now been updated!

It didn't ask me to save any file, Cliff. I'm pretty sure neither did it do that for SLoB.
I shoot and ask questions later.

Take no offense of it.

Some general feedback from what I've seen so far.

When I first installed it, the relocation of the files and stuff was successful, no problems there. When it came to running Xion for the first time, it didn't actually play anything. Mp3's, streams, playlists, anything at all. I just got an error message (which I can't remember now) saying it couldn't locate something. It wasn't the music files though, it was something to do with Xion. I then reopened Xion and still wouldn't play. Eventually a reboot sorted it and it's been fine since. Not sure what that was!

The playlist is much better now, haven't had any errors regarding skin changes and the playlist acting crap. Smaller issues with the PL seem to have been brought up already so I won't go there.

I noticed that after this installation, all of the 1.FM channels in the Library list have duplicated themselves. Any custom playlists in there are still single, just the 1.FM. It's not a major deal or anything but thought I would mention it. Deleting them works fine though.

That's it for now. Not much but whatever. Thanks for your hard work Cliff :)

Peace, Lance

hmm
installed, then went to copy some skins from the last xion version folder (i rename them from version to version)
went to choose skin, the dialogue opened, was on current skin tab, click on "all skins" but only the default skin shows, refresh doesnt work within the dialogue and there is no option on the right click

this is on initial install and look, closing Xion down and doing the same steps doesnt make any difference

hmm it seems that the only way to get Xion to recognise there is a new skin is to click on the xsf file and install and open skin option
it should also be possible to drop the skin files into the interface folder too

I just noticed that mouse wheel scrolling doesn't work too well in the playlist. Has some nasty input lag and movement delay that's not present when doing it the hardcore way and dragging the scrollbar.

Is that fixable, or a permanent cosmetic issue? I don't really care either way, just pointed it out.
I shoot and ask questions later.

That's correct, the Interface folder has now moved to your Documents and Settings folder instead. Right click in the Skin Browser, and choose locate Skin in Explorer to see the path.

If I support 2 locations, you'll start noticing duplicates. The Program Files location needs to stay so that any time a new user is created on the system, the default Interfaces can be copied across to the new profile.

doh
hmm, perhaps put in a blank text file with the name of DONOTPUTSKINSHERE into the program files interface folder?
also this will need to be listed on the release list in bold so people don't get the wrong idea

I tried using Rainwave with this build, and it semi-broke it.

It will not show you title nor artist, and it refuses to work with the listener detection system it uses, which is activated by a hashed ID key in the playlist.

Thanks for this, I've fixed the meta data not working. It wasn't working on any icy streams due to the unicode changes.

Not sure what the listener detection system is? I could listen to the stream just fine. On the website if I asked it to Auto Detect it seemed to work.

Ok, I've added a Readme file for the Interfaces directory.

I also popup the Message Box informing that skins have now moved, asking if they want to copy them now.

If people are installing skins by double clicking the .xsf files then they will also be fine.

The only users that may have problems are the Skin Authors, but hopefully the Message Box will help them, and now the fallback Readme text file.

I'll need to look into this again. Its actually the 'Smooth Scrolling' from Windows. If you turn that off in your Windows options it will fix it. You can find it under your System Properties, Advanced Tab, Choose the 'Settings' button for Performance, and scroll down till you see 'Smooth-Scroll List boxes'

Last I checked there was no way to disable this option on a per application basis, which really sucks :|

EDIT: I've found a work around that works quite well, transforming the mouse wheel messages and causing it to scroll without the smoothness, therefore removing the slowness. Will be in build 110.

Hi all!
I'm new in the Xion world but I'm really liking it!
I just tried the last build and noticed that the last.fm plugin fails with an "unable to load: Version 4 instead of 5"

Good to see the skinned playlist! I also noticed the windows are somehow dockable now, I would advice to let them move together (IE when I move the main window, the playlist follows)

Thank you!

Hi dissonance,

I've mentioned it before, but yes, the plugins will get updated once this round of Beta's is stable. You'll then be able to use the plugin again.

I'll be doing the moving of docked windows in an upcoming beta. Just have to get the code right.

1.) The seeking doesn't work properly for me.
Without holding shift: I hear nothing, but when I stop (while still seeking) i hear a little pop of sound and it continues to kinda make a pop sound when I stay there.
With holding shift I hear that popping noise even when im moving the seek.

Sorry for all the mess before Cliff. :D

2.) When the Main and Playlist are snapped together, when you go to resize the playlist, the main bar will get grabbed and move instead. I think this happens when you try to resize the playlist on the edge that they are together on. Also I think this only happens when the main is the active window. I confirmed on my end that's what happens.
