This is very nice and clean, and comfortable on the eyes. I like the panel, and the attention paid to the depression and visible state of the play/pause button. I did wonder why it's 1.5+ MB tho'...
Thanks (:
- The reason why the file size it 1.5mb is becouse, when i makeing a skin, i like to have a background, some nature picture or somehing like that.. In this case, it was a 1280x1024 picture i used.. So, (: .. But, if you want me make the file smaller, just say (:
If the nature pic is not part of the skin it should be removed, no point in putting something that's completely bloating the skin, I don't particularly care for peoples bandwidth restrictions, however, try to reduce file sizes and can appreciate less bloat in skins where possible.
Look at nVidia's forceware for example. The entire package is almost 100MB in size now. The single driver to my GFX card is probably 1/50th of it. That's blowing things way out of proportion when you're on a wireless internet solution, low speed cable, dial-up, and ESPECIALLY when you're on a paid plan with a download limit. Burning out a cap of 10GB is a matter of days to some people. But it's even worse if people don't follow the basics of keeping filesizes as small as possible.
Hence my negative position on such a matter. Clean up, you lazy arses. It's not that hard.
The smaller you make your skins, the faster Xion will be able to render them and the less memory it will use to render them. Therefore only include what you actually need in the final skin. Anything else is just wastage.
I.e. merging a bunch of layers together is a good way to easily optimize, as otherwise Xion needs to iterate the layers when it needs to redraw again. The less layers, the faster Xion can draw, and the less memory the skin will use.
