Beta Builds of Xion. These are builds that are not quite ready for Release, but need feedback and bug submissions in order to move it to Release Status
WARNING: This is a Beta Build. That means it has fixes and features that are NEW. It is also possible it has bugs that are NEW! If you are looking for stability, please don't expect this build to be perfectly stable. It may have issues. If on the other hand you are happy to try this build out and post any bugs back in this thread, then please do!
NOTE: Runtimes are now statically linked. You shouldn't need any external libraries! Let me know if it complains for you!
Changelist:
Updated the Default skin and swapped the Control buttons from left to right
Added support for multiple snaprectangles to be enabled at once. The regions are combined at their maximum extents
Fixed the Playlist popup menu from appearing in the wrong location on some Multimonitor setups - Thanks dragoon!
Fixed open file handle when reading tags from WMA - Thanks davydm!
Minor fixes and tweaks
If you find bugs specifically related to this build, please post them here instead of the Bug reporting forum. Any feedback positive or negative should also go in here, no new threads. This way all feedback, etc related to this build will be in the one place.
KNOWN ISSUES: The new Default skin's Vis Left/Right buttons aren't finished yet, so won't currently do anything. Also, the Playlist Title text won't resize with the playlist. This will need some more code changes to fix properly and will be ready for release.
ABOUT THIS BUILD:
I've moved the control buttons on the default skin from left to right. There are no other changes to the Default skin for this build, waiting on Lance to get back to me.
Let me know if you get any crashes and I'll make a special build for you.
Any questions or bugs related to this build should be posted here only!
Enjoy!
Cliff

So far so good. Here's something though. Hide the player, then open the config and turn on 'show taskbar button'. You'll get a really uncanny unskinned windows titlebar with controls, on the bottom left corner. It dissapears when you unhide the player and doesn't return after.
When's Lance gonna fix up the last of the new skin? I'm itching for the Release so i can tell all my friends who share the 'betas are unstable and bad' mentality to get it.
The save state for the colour changer doesn't work. I think it stopped working with the changes made to the save state with build 122. I reverted back to build 121 and it works fine.
Changing the colour and then restarting Xion, changing skin or swapping to barmode and back resets to the default colour. Just to clarify

Ah ok, I don't see any of that on Windows 7 (They fixed a bunch of bugs that have been in Windows for ages). I could only reproduce that on Windows 2000. Seemed to work ok in Windows XP. I'll look at ways to fix, thanks.

Wish I knew. He hasn't been in contact for a while again. Last I heard he was really busy for a couple of weeks. I ended up moving the controls around myself, wasn't too big a deal. I may end up having to do the public Release without his changes

Aforementioned bug happened in Windows 7 Ultimate, Retail. So no, it's definetly still there, possibly related to how you hide the default windows generated GUI.

Ok, I've looked into this again and WAS able to reproduce it in Windows 7 (Ultimate). I've added some fixes to prevent this from happening in 124.
Just being nit-picky, but when you right click on a song on the secondary monitor (Which works great now ), the File Information window appears on the main display regardless. I don't know how you'd do this one, maybe remember the position? Ooh, but if that is the route you go, and someone disconnects one of their monitors, we'd never be able to get that window back, so don't forget to make it reset with the default interface reset thing..
Also, the new button positions are much better for me, at least. Now It's easier to go from the scroll bar on the Playlist to the Next or Pause buttons for me.

I think this was on Lance's list of things to do. Unfortunately I haven't heard from him for a while now.
I may end up releasing with the skin as it is now and then hopefully sometime in the future I'll be able to update it with Lance's changes when he's not so busy.
Ok, I've fixed all things mentioned above. The only one I haven't looked into is the one that dragoon mentioned with the multimonitors, but that may remain for the time being until I can get a multimonitor setup to test on.
Anyone have any other major issues? I'm not too worried about the minor stuff at this stage as that can be fixed over time.
No more crashes? No more broken functionality?
If not I'd say its time to finally do a public release!
Improve the speed at which the drawers open. It feels a little low FPS right now, just kick it up by a few hundred ms. And remove the controls that don't work.
A savestate for the RGB color you select wouldn't hurt, either. Other than that, i haven't gotten any bugs.
Oh, one more thing. Take a look at the playlist. The top right corner reads Playlist - X files, right? Well, the graphic suggests that area expands, but it doesn't, and if you add too many files, about enough to make the number 4 digits long, the limits of that area become visible, and the text starts scrolling. Very ugly.
Also, i just added my entire music folder in to reproduce that, to see how many digits it took to make it scroll, and it crashed the player. It had been running a while, a good few days, actually.
Another thing i noticed was that adding my entire folder seemed to take way longer than usual, has something changed? It took about 3 minutes to add all the files, and another 3 minutes to update the total amount of audio in the bottom left corner. Very slow.

Ok will do, thanks.

Yes, there already is, was just a bug in this build that caused it to not save properly. Already fixed for next build.

Yup, I've fixed this by moving the location of it. In the future it will be able to expand and resize the text field, however I'm unable to get this working yet.

Ok, not sure if there's a way for you to narrow it down. Off the top of my head, you could try adding again, and this time when it crashes, load up a copy of Process Explorer and have a look at which file handles are currently open. If you aren't able to do that, but you can reproduce the crash, let me know and I'll send you build that has the crash reporter built in.

Ah, I just reproduced. Fixed for the next version!
