So I've been very busy lately, adding several new features to Xion and therefore havn't created a new Beta build for a little while. That will be changing soon, as the code is starting to settle and stability is starting to return.

I will be doing another Beta release soon in anticipation of a full blown public release.

As a recap, here are some highlights of what will be featured in the next public release. Some of these features are yet to make it into Beta releases, but will be in the next release. Others have been in the Beta releases for quite some time.

All new sound engine
I've switched from FmodEx to BASS in favour of the greater support for File formats.

New Format support
The new sound engine features the following new sound formats (full list on release!) :
    AAC
    M4A
    MP4
    APE
    MPC
    WV
    TTA
    OFR
New Skin format support
The Skin system has been receiving new features such as the following:
Ability to Save the state of Layers
    New Slider bar objects
    New Text Objects
    New Indicator Objects
New Playlist features
    Recent Playlist history
Prompting to save when changes are made
    Numbers
    Track Times
    Remove all dead files
New Player features
Stop button can now Stop or Fade song out or Stop after current song (using right click)
    CD Audio Support

A full changelist will be available when I do the next Public Release so that you will be able to see all the changes that have gone into Xion!

I hope you are all having a great time using Xion!

Cliff :)

So, will Xion be able to play songs I download from the iTunes Music store or does that involve some more DRM than Xion is built for?

Unfortunately no, that would require removing the DRM from those files. I'm assuming that Xion doing that or providing a way to do that would be illegal. Let me know if you have any information that points otherwise.
