Xion skin format extension is going to have to change!

Hi,

It seems that Office 2007 has decided to steal the .xsf file extension for 'Microsoft Office InfoPath Form Definition File'. How on EARTH they got xsf from that description is beyond me, but knowing what office is like with stealing back file associations, I don't want to have to handle the plethora of support calls from users using both.

I can think of two options to change to:

.xs

or

.xionskin

Both seem to not be taken. The problems with .xionskin will be that it means that they won't work on a FAT system that doesn't support long filenames and only support 8.3 filename format.

Therefore I'm leaning towards .xs, however give me your feedback!

Cliff :)

I vote .xs with a batch rename of all current skins plus automatically renaming existing .xsf to .xs when installing.

No poll? :p

XS Perl C routines
XSF Milnta APL Transfer Function

surprised m$ have not bought you out yet Cliff heheh ;)

hmm the more bespoke the extension the less likely to change if EVER Period!

.x_s not taken
.xion not taken?
.xio not taken?
.xis not taken? (xif taken numerous times)

i voted .xs but if its already taken, then XKS will work just fine.

Last thing you need is a law(l)suit from M$...

So far it seems .xsk is the winner, which seems like a great choice.

Obviously I'll support .xsf still, however .xsk will be the choice to go forward with.

The next public build will support .xsk as well as .xsf.

I'll also have to notify wincustomize to allow .xsk files once its all active within Xion.

Thanks everyone for voting!

good idea, also for .xsf, atm dA donĀ“t accept it as it is, they recognize it as a .zip and rename it
