edit: One thing I didn't see mentioned in the tut is that if you want to choose a generic jpg for the tracks w/ unassigned art, just pick one and rename it folder.jpg as usual, replacing the one in your main dir. You can of course assign any image you choose to replace any albums' cover, through MMonkey, but that is in the tut.

Yes, Xion will have the ability to embed the album art in the future.
First pass was adding album art.
Second pass was adding support for reading embedded album art.
Third pass is for saving embedded album art.
Fourth pass is searching and downloading album art automatically.
Took me a while to figure out, but I can now generate playlists for a few hundred artists in about two minutes. Sweet!
If you just want to do basic editing, like adding art or changing genre, give audioshell a look:
http://www.softpointer.com/AudioShell.htm It's nice for a quick edit on a few files. Not anywhere near as powerful as MP3Tag, but easy to figure out.
You should be aware, however, that if you like to use high-resolution files for your artwork, this is not a very good idea, especially if you're concerned about disk space. Embedding that file into the mp3 files is like copying that same image file for x amount of tracks in that album.
The most automated mp3 album art embedding tool that i've discovered so far is called Taghycardia (http://taghycardia.info). The free utility quickly scans your mp3 folders finding artwork for them both online and locally whenever it is missing. The plus side is that it limits image size for embedding thus preventing your mp3s from growing too large. The whole processing happens almost transparently to the user provided that albums are tagged properly (and if not, the program helps with that, too).
