Okay so when I have the mymusic folder open on the left there is a play all link. In WMP this link always worked. Click it once, and it loads all the songs in that folder. When you click on that link trying to use xion it only opens the first song. This is EXTREMELY annoying to me. Im not a playlist kind of person. I just go to whatever folder/band I wanna listen to and click play all. Id like to use xion cause of the many skins that you have to choose from but for now I guess its back to boring old wmp.

Hi D Jones,

To tell you the truth I've never used Play All as I generally view my folders with the Tree view on the left.

I'll look into fixing this one soon, if it hasn't already been fixed in the latest beta. Which version of Xion are you using? 1.0.100 ?

As an alternative to tide you over, if you go up one folder and right click on the folder you want to play, you should be able to select 'Play now in Xion'. This should add all files and start playing them for you.

Ok!

I've tracked it down and have now fixed it for build 110. (This hasn't been released yet, but when it is, it will be a Beta version).

You can either hang in for the next stable release or download the Beta for yourself when its available.

Great cliff, that was mighty fast, I usually don't use this feature myself but I also didn't know of it's existence lol. And Speaking of 110, do you have an idea of how much you wanted to implement before you release it? and/or have a rough estimate of the time we have to wait? :D

Oh yeah another thing too. When you highlight multiple mp3's using the shift click thing, then right click and hit play, it only plays one track even though more than one were highlighted when play was hit.

Ah, yup that's also been fixed. I found out that the Play All button does exactly the same as selecting some songs and choosing 'Play in Xion'. All fixed in 110!

No builds ever have release dates, since Xion is developed purely on Cliff's free time.

Fortunately, Cliff works fast. You may see it within a week or two.
I shoot and ask questions later.

Take no offense of it.

I realise Im being a little cheeky here :-) This is in Vista (happens in Windows 7 too, probably XP as well but not tested)

Im currently trying to write a basic mp3 player for myself. I noticed this bug in Xion which is sort of along the lines of problem I have.

I have currently associated the .mp3 extension to my program, and if I select an mp3, and double click it, that works.

If I select 2 or more *UP TO 15* files, that works.

If I use the 'play all' button with 15 or less files in the directory, that works.

BUT, if I highlight over 15 files or I press the play all button with over 15 files, it still opens in windows media player. Cheeky Microsoft :)

It appears you have to set your program as a 'default music player' in windows in "Default Programs" -> "Set program access and computer defaults", but I have no idea how to add mine to the registry or programatically. (I notice winamp and iTunes have sussed it) but I just wondered if you had cracked this over 15 files problem.

Thanks,
Nyx.

I've supported the Play All button, but to be honest I didn't know there was a limit so I probably only tested with 10 or so. I'll have to test and see if it does something similar for Xion.

Just if it helps you at any point :

Here is the section I added to my registry file last night which makes my player appear in the "Default Programs" -> "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults", but this doesn't help to solve the problem I discovered.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Media\NixPlayer]
@="NixPlayer"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Media\NixPlayer\Capabilities]

Opening more than 15 files triggers a windows dialog that says 'Opening X files may cause the system to become unresponsive' etc, doesn't it? That's likely the cause.

Yea!

But Im guessing Xion (and this one Im doing) are single instance applications. It just feeds each filename in a command line parameter.

On a side note I did a little test :
I replaced the winamp.exe file with my exe to see what got fed to it when I select over 15 files, and it still simply sends the 15+ filenames as command line parameters. grrrrrrr :) Send them to my program lol.

Xion didn't have single instance feeding before, either. That was fixed in a beta after 100, 102 or something. Up until then, it also fed the files one at a time, not generating a playlist of all files selected, and showing the warning dialog.
I shoot and ask questions later.

Take no offense of it.
