Xion Audio Player

Any chance of a new Beta Build?

Beta Builds of Xion. These are builds that are not quite ready for Release, but need feedback and bug submissions in order to move it to Release Status

:)
That way at least we can work on colour themed skins :)
Also values should persist across playlist, eq windows etc... ;)

Getting closer. I can't just send you a build now as a fair bit is broken.

Progress has been slow, but the merge is complete.

Cheers Cliff :)

Does the playlist background only use the static colour value or can this be changed on the fly with the tint keywords?

Ideally I want to create some playlist skins that have the playlist embedded into the main skin.
The only way I can see that happening is if we use a hack to open the main skin (an invisible skin), which then automatically opens the playlist so that the playlist becomes the new main skin.

Do the tints currently persist across all the windows if set by the main skin?
I know link keyword does not persist across main skin to playlist :(

Actually that's a good point, I haven't tested this yet, but the tinting may well modify that single background pixel colour and change it. I'll test it when I get a chance.

Well now that each of the seperate plugins (playlist, main, eq, etc) are merged back into the core it would be possible for me to create a SUI which would allow you to do this. I do want to move this way. The first beta release won't include SUI support, but I will be moving in that direction. I'd prefer you didn't hack for now as it would just mean you'd need to update your skin later.

Currently no as it's directly linked to a particular layer. I could allow for a form of global tinting, I'll just need to decide how best to do it.

Thanks Cliff :)

Yea the global tinting is a must have going forward ;) It should also apply the colour setting for linked ids even if the other windows are closed so that all components are kept the same when opened.
I didn't have the patience to do a playlist with 4 layers, which would seem very clunky ;)

Sooo, I'm at a point now where I'm ready to release a build.

I haven't heard from Lance, I think something happened to his computer. Lance, in case you see this, let me know everything is ok.

This build won't include Lance's new skin as it's not ready yet.

This build also won't be a Beta build. I can't release it with an unfinished Equalizer. Beta Builds are published to many review sites too and it'll just get smashed.

Therefore I'll make a controlled Alpha build. The Alpha build includes support for the Last.FM plugin too, so you can test while still keeping track of your listening.

If you want to help test, post a reply here and I'll message you the link. I'd recommend only getting this build if you can actually test and give feedback as it may contain bugs.

It will also upgrade some settings so you won't be able to go back to build 127 without losing your settings.

If you're still interested, post away and let me know.

Cliff :)

Yeah, all the keywords listed in upcoming are available. I think I've documented all the new ones but I'll double check and update the docs appropriately.

I'd be happy to test this.
I shoot and ask questions later.

Take no offense of it.

placeholder eq atm (take it waiting for skin for new eq?)

Settings carried over fine, all seems to operate as normal.

Noticed the icons too, and placeholder EQ.

Will continue usage as normal to see if anything's broken or needs improvement.

I'M BACK!

Yes, I had a catastrophic meltdown with massive flames and tons of smoke. Really though, my comp pretty much blew up.

Left me in a very shitty situation so I had to take out a loan and I figured I'd buy something insane since that was the case. So I did. Literally just got it up and running and starting to transfer my stuff over. I was worried that my drives were fried but thankfully everything is working... The xion files are right here :)

@Cliff Nice one on the pre release, good move. The skin would've been released by now if it wasn't for the mishap, I am 99.4% complete. Just gotta polish it up really. Oh and there's one last unreleasable bug with the hue which I'll talk to you about once I have AIM up and running.

Ciao.
I made the Xion Default skin. Ask me questions and stuff.

You'll have to remove any previous shortcuts you had and re-create them. Then you'll see the high res ones.

I am quite excited for this! It has been years! I check this website probably every month for news. Xion is still the only media player that I have any desire to use and skin!

Lance, glad you are back! What happened to your website focused around GUI? I remember doing some stuff around there back in the day when I had time to photoshop.

I would be willing to test anything if needed.

EDIT:
I seem to remember reading a while back about the possibility of layer effects being added such as overlay. Is this still the case?
