Xion 1.0 build 80 Beta Release

Beta Builds of Xion. These are builds that are not quite ready for Release, but need feedback and bug submissions in order to move it to Release Status

Postby Cliff Cawley » March 28th, 2007, 12:56 am

WARNING:
This is a Beta Build. That means it has fixes and features that are NEW. It is also possible it has bugs that are NEW! If you are looking for stability, please don't expect this build to be perfectly stable. It may have issues. If on the other hand you are happy to try this build out and post any bugs back in this thread, then please do!

Download Installer Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b80.exe
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b80.exe

Download Portable Device Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b80.zip
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b80.zip

Changelist:
  • Fix launching of Xion from explorer right click
  • Enable Hotkey registration for media keys
  • Attempt to fix volume bug when setting the volume near the end of the song
  • Fix bug that doesn't update the clipping rectangle correctly for skins due to changes with skinrectangle
  • Fix song title/skin updates when scrolling the wheel mouse
  • Fix crash when large comments are encountered. Am now using dynamically allocated strings to store tags, instead of pre-defined char arrays
  • Add 'adding' icon animation so that you can actively see its still adding, even if you are unaware what the adding progress bar is.
  • Fix Library so that duplicate items are filtered out
  • Rename Xion Portable to Xion _Portable
  • Add Enter as a hotkey for the playlist to play the selected item
  • Add filename searching to the playlist search box (instead of just display name)
  • Update the Default Tag format to display ' - ' when no title/artist is found, instead of 'No Artist - No Title'

If you find bugs specifically related to this build, please post them here instead of the Bug reporting forum. Any feedback positive or negative should also go in here, no new threads. This way all feedback, etc related to this build will be in the one place.

This build should now fix all the issues reported in build 79. It also includes some minor updates/fixes in order to polish it up to Release status. Let me know if you find any glaring bugs! NOTE: I've removed the Breakdance, OverlayBar and Switcher skins and just included the Default skin. The other skins can now be downloaded from the skins page instead (except for the Switcher skin, which I never quite finished anyway)

Enjoy!

Cliff :)

When I'm playing a song, then mute the sound, then pause the track, the sound gets un-muted before the fade-out from play to pause is finished. The result is that I hear a little sound when the song is muted & I pause playback.

Cheers pickle, I have managed to reproduce this and will look into a fix for the next build!

2 more (or rather, still)

I still crash Xion when I rapidly click "next" through my playlist. It varies as to how quickly it crashes.

It also crashes when I'm adding folders of songs to the playlist - again this varies.

I wasn't experiencing these bugs a few betas ago. I'd say this problem has started (for me at least) since... beta 76.

Could you post the addresses at which the crashes are occurring? Are you able to narrow it down to a particular file, or does it still seem random to you?

I've had no problems adding 15,000+ files by dragging and dropping the folder that contains them, onto the playlist.

I can only assume its a corrupt file/corrupt tag within a file that's causing the issue.

When you do the adding, are you waiting for the add process to finish, or just continually adding new ones while its still adding the previous lot? (just trying to get it reproduced, so if you could run me through the steps you take that would help :))

Thanks!

Cliff :)

It might be a malformed tag. I'm not at home now - I'll give you a more detailed run-down when I get there.

I have found another bug though here at work. To reproduce it:

Have one song in a playlist.
Turn 'repeat' off.
Let the song finish playing.
Load up a playlist of all radio stations.
A station will connect & buffer, but won't actually start playing.

Expected behaviour:
The station would start playing.

When I load up a playlist with actual songs (as opposed to radio), the song starts playing.

lol, great to hear pickle! I was really hoping I had nailed all the crashes and it looks like I have, bar the one SLoB has found with cd tracks. (although i'm now hoping he isn't using build 80 either :P)

When I listen to a particular radio channel (one that I need to login to a website to connect to), sometimes my credentials get displayed as the song information like so: "http://myusername:mypassword@ipimconnectingto:port". Also, the actual track information is not displayed.

I've not been able to determine what it is that causes this, or if I do anything special to trigger it. I don't think this is a problem with the radio station (http://www.di.fm), as I never have this problem with iTunes.

I've been having this problem for quite a while (and yes, I am using b80 :) )

something that is getting a bit irritating is that you can press down on the mouse on an object ie button/sliderbit etc and if you dont lift the mouse button up and move the mouse around for example setting a slider then the down state gets activated on any object in the mouse cursors path and will trigger than action on any touched object

what should happen is that the down state is only triggered for the object that was in focus at the time of the downpress

Hmm, I can't reproduce this. The only time a playlist will start playing is if you drag and drop it or double click it in explorer. If Xion is set to Stopped mode, and you use the File menu to load a playlist, it won't autoplay until you tell it to, even if it is a playlist with just radio stations.

Ok, this *seems* to be a problem with BASS. I've posted on the forum to ask about a fix for it so hopefully there will be a fix for it soon.
