Xion Audio Player

Xion 1.0 build 81 Beta Release

Beta Builds of Xion. These are builds that are not quite ready for Release, but need feedback and bug submissions in order to move it to Release Status

Postby Cliff Cawley » April 4th, 2007, 8:35 pm

WARNING:
This is a Beta Build. That means it has fixes and features that are NEW. It is also possible it has bugs that are NEW! If you are looking for stability, please don't expect this build to be perfectly stable. It may have issues. If on the other hand you are happy to try this build out and post any bugs back in this thread, then please do!

Download Installer Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b81.exe
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b81.exe

Download Portable Device Version:
r2 Studios Server -> http://www.r2.com.au/downloads/files/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b81.zip
OR
Xion Server -> http://xion.r2.com.au/download/beta/qa-xion_v1.0b81.zip

Changelist:
  • Use a 'Search' label instead of just an icon to make it easier for new users to spot the playlist search feature
  • Fix Mute/Pause/Unpause issue unmuting sound and causing weird stutters
  • Update BASS to 2.3.0.2
  • Fix crash when reading Tags from CD audio tracks
  • Fix Media keys generating multiple messages. We now ignore multiples if they are executed after each other too quickly
  • Ensure that you can't execute actions on controls when you mouse up, other than the one you first had the mouse down on. Once you mouse down and move around, you will only get mouse_over and mouse_down changes for that one control, and no others
  • Add support to Explorer for Enqueue
  • Add support when dragging onto the User Interface for holding down shift to Enqueue dropped files

If you find bugs specifically related to this build, please post them here instead of the Bug reporting forum. Any feedback positive or negative should also go in here, no new threads. This way all feedback, etc related to this build will be in the one place.

I've fixed all previous issues from build 80 along with a couple of other minor issues. This build should be pretty much the final Beta build before Release, so please test and let me know how it goes for you! (If all is well, let me know too!!)

Enjoy!

Cliff :)

looking good Cliff

no default icon on some filetypes for files with no known associative program/player (that havnt already been taken by Winamp, QuickTime) unless Xion is associated with it which is a non issue imo

cd issues seem to have been fixed

Yeah, Xion doesn't take any filetypes at all, unless you tell it to. Do you think its more intuitive and friendly for the user to auto associate all filetypes that are currently not associated? I would have thought this would be frustrating for the user and hence have left the decision entirely up to them.

Looks great Cliff! I have one question, which may be a silly question. When you are talking about media keys, do you mean things like next/previous buttons on media keyboards, or am I totally on the wrong track there? If you do mean media keyboard keys, they don't work for me.. but its probably just my keyboard. It's not all that fancy.

Yup that's the ones I mean.

Make sure you've installed the drivers for your keyboard or they might not work ;)

Oh boy, I just can't wait, from what I can see here, I think that we'll have an official new Xion version very soon... :D

IMPORTANT!!!!!! Cliff, I see that you removed (maybe because its a beta version!?) the OverlayBar skin, which is so simple, small and elegant (I'm using it most of the time!)

I think that to do so, it would be a mistake for first impression to a new Xion users
but this is only me, so... make a poll on what are the 4,5 or maybe 10 Xion skins that you would like to see on Xion when you first download it

First impression is very important!! and again, thats at least what I think, I hope that no harm was done :?

Regards.

Cliff
can you add in a warning on skin load if colour mode is set to 16bit (needs to be 8bit), currently Xion just crashes when trying to select a skin from the skin viewer

@simon, ther is something in the works dont worry ;)

Ok, fixed the problem. Xion can't load the PSD file since there are no layers available (only pixel data since its only a background layer)

I've simply bailed out silently for now. I can add error messages at a layer date if other users are experiencing more problems. You can't create layered PSD files in 16bit mode anyway ;)
