Creating Components?

Will there be a way to create components? Some kind of script or API?
I'd like to see (or to make) a killer playlist and albumlist...

Yes, I plan on releasing a Component SDK.

It will be written in C++ initially, but I don't see any reason why it won't expand in the future.

The SDK is about 70% done and is basically just the framework for creating a Component Dll.

Thanks for a welcome post. Will I be able to compile Component SDK with MinGW/G++ (open source C++)? How hard to code will be Component SDK? Could you post a example of some component written in Component SDK? Or at least send it to my email duke4e (at) gmail DOT com

It might be possible to compile with g++, I havn't tried. I'm using Visual Studio 2003.

I will be releasing an Example Component within the next couple of weeks.

That sounds great! Just when I'll have some free time...
I hope that one day I'll be able to make winamp style album list & playlist but with Xions great skinning abilities... Any help whould be welcome with that kind of "big" project, so all interested developers hop onboard

I am willing to download various components, DSP plug ins and visualizations are my favorites. the skins are great!
I'm not a programmer, but I'd like to make my own visualizations like on WinAmp.

Looks like the components have been put on hold. Too bad. I wanted a component that could show what i'm listening to in my Yahoo Status..

the SDK is available. Though I'd guess you need more than a component for that - a plugin for yahoo messenger too, unless there is a way to add some text to the yahoo status without heavy hacking.
