Here's a WIP version of a quick skin idea. The idea was to use some random tech brushes, literally just plonk em down to form some kind of random'ish skin but into a usable base shape.

Updated version (much tidier) ![]()
It's intense and busy in such a great way!
Thanks Mike
Yea, it is a bit busy but as you said it's a kind of intense way, definitely managed to capture the spirit of it with simple lines and content/structure. Plus the RGB sliders will give it so much more scope + combined with a dark/light stencil toggle really does bring it even more attraction. Check out the RGB slider control I put in the tips and tricks section, Ebonite for Xion could get RGB
I think its great,
and I like that its different than alot of your stuff. You know me, I have 3D on the brain, did you ever extrude this a little, think of showin a little top and side bevel? It would kinda be like the tape normal case, but not, hehe, just a little more perceived thickness of the body... then the "bits could have some real sharp bevel lines too, some defined edges, ya know? It is cool head on too, you know, but I always see 100 other skins in every skin...Carmine.
Thanks Carmine
Yea I've messed with extruding it a little, was even going to add it in as an option, a nice subtle way to add in the depth is to clone the stencil (underneath), invert it, then move it a pixel or 2, certainly gives a nice subtle look. With the colour options, the option to have a dark stencil really adds to the vast array of colour/style options with a simple toggle. I think that is kind of enough to add in, keeping it simple but yet versatile to users preference. Will be working on the animations next, then onto the other windows.
Or you could always use a drop shadow layer style with 2 px distance and no 'size'
I prefer to add a separate shadow on its own on most things when it comes to whole things like that. Gives more control that way. When I looked at the drop it does give it depth however will be looking to add that as a user option
Had a little play with a few updates, thought I'd share it with peeps
