how would i go about making 3 or 4 layers appear and 3 or 4 other layers dissapear when the window is inactive?

Easy,

For the layers that you want hidden when inactive, give them the following keyword:
indi_active

For the layers that you want visible when inactive, give them the following keyword:
indi_inactive
