you can, just rasterize them before using them in xion

that thought came to mind, but the rasterize commands are grayed out on the layer menu, and on right-click menu from the layers hierarchy. how exactly do I go about doing this? I initially tried doing everything with a vector mask, then adding layer styles, then rasterizing; but this left everything single-colored in Xion. Next I tried using the marquee selection tools and the same layer styles technique, but rasterizing isn't an option when doing it that way. I suppose now my question is do I have to make my 3d effects by hand in another layer?

(I know this isn't the help forum, but it seems to have become one on this post... sorry.)

I find it easiest to put a layer in a group, then right-click the group & select 'Merge Group'.

Others have mentioned how nice it would be to have layer styles in Xion. Apparently though, layer styles are quite complex & difficult to implement, so they won't be included for quite some time.

a quick way
ctl+shift+n for new layer
select both and merge (ctl+e)

hoping cliff will at some point add in text path so we can put in text on a curved path for example but layer styles are not easy to implement

Or do Merge Down (Ctrl + E) on to an empty layer below the style one
