Set the layers hidden in photoshop. Xion will make them appear when appropriate.

That's correct, hide the _over and _down and leave the _normal visible.

Although Xion should have already done this for you.

You haven't placed them in an animation Layer Set have you?

Cliff :)

A transparent (or 1% opacity) photoshop layer with the 'hover' id.

would the hover layer go before or after the normal layer? or would it take the place of the normal layer?

order the layers like so
1.HOVER
2.NORMAL
3.DOWN

it is real simple, no tricky tricks or anything like that

if your still unsure checkout some of the other skins

did you mean, if the hover-state shows up in front of the normal state?

if so: yes it does - without hiding the normal layer (no replacement).

for the down-state it is different: the normal layer is hidden completely and the down-layer is shown (replacement).
