Some sort of transparency control for the interface would be nice. This could be set from the shimmer options, rightclick menu or maybe even from the skins.

You can set the opacity of layers in Photoshop. Xion listens to that.

I'm assuming you mean so that the user can fade the interface out, no matter what skin?

If so, sure, I can add this for an upcoming version :)

I've never been a big fan of this. It's a great concept and all but, especially for Xion, all you need to do is open the .psd and delete/invisible the layer and poof! It's gone.

skry, it can be used for other things for example an idea i had a while back was to add RGB layers which already had a preset transparency depending on the saturation wanted and you could have a slider for each of these layers to change the transparency, doing so would in this example change the colour of a section that the RGB layers were on giving instant colour themes without any complicated workarounds/code

I believe this request is something different to what you are all thinking.

It will be to merely modify the overall transparency of the window, not individual elements or such. To add this is extremely simple and adds no overhead to the skin system.

Think of it as a slider in the options screen that allows you to fade the entire skin down to a very minimal transparency level. There is no need to modify any of the source images and the value is applied to any skin that is opened.

I've added this in for build 69. You can find it in the Shimmer options.

Wow, you're amazing Cliff 8) I didn't expect this to be added quite that quickly. Works a treat and adds that extra level of tweakabity that some skins need to be perfect on the desktop.

Thanks very much :D

No worries, I'd always intended to add it, and since it was an easy add I thought I'd throw it in :)
