would be a good thing i think. The acanplay and stop doesn´t do if you want to have a standard looping animation vanished completely, whatever frame it is at the moment.

I tried a lot of things, included for example an empty layer with (self-) acanstop in the animation. To keep it running I triggered it by a second one, which i then turned on and off. This control worked directly but not when i wanted to switch it by a third thing like a button... at that point i gave up...

i think acanhide would be a nice feature

you can use acanhide and show on a layer set, its one of the things i asked Cliff to implement in the late beta builds
perhaps put a mockup skin of what you want to accomplish, its more than likely possible without any new thing yet
bosh up a simple skin with it and ill try and fix the idea for you
