Hi loopoo,

Can you send me 1 of the files using Contact at the top?

Most likely its because I don't use unicode yet in Xion and therefore languages such as Russian won't display correctly.

Cliff :)

Very bad that xion does not understand Russian names songs in playlist. will update where the problem would be corrected? I like very much your player xion, but me as this is a challenge :(
Thank you very much for your program, I think that it better!

P.S. I should wait for updating in any case :)

Yeah, definetly because of unicode support being missing.

Say Cliff, why didn't you do unicode long before? With Xion being internationally available and all, it's obvious to get a few users like me, or him. Too much of a hassle?

I first started coding Xion in VS 6.0, unicode support was abysmal. I updated to 2003 and it was a thought, but I had too many other things to worry about. VS 2005 support is better, and now that Win 9x is retired I don't have to worry about unicows.dll.

It'll get in soon, just doing so many things at the moment that its taking a backseat in terms of features ;)

Russian Trackname (Not ID-Tags!) cant be played and enqueued

Sorry Cliff for posting my crap here, but I thought, it'll better than make some new topic/thread. Its still the same problem :D

As it mentioned beyond, I have that problem:
If the trackname is written in russian, that track cant be added to playlist neither be played.
Otherwise, if I rename it, Xion get it, although there are some unicode/russian letters in the ID-Tag of MP3.

Example:
"тест - ксион.mp3" cant be played by Xion.
After rename in "test - xion.mp3" Xion play it without any problem.
(The ID-Tag is in russian, so Xion shows me there instead a lot of "???", but it aint a problem. The fact of playing counts for me :) )

Is there any hope for me to be able to play them in Xion in future?
Just dont want to rename all of my russian-named songs manually...
Do anything else have the same problem? Am I alone with that?

Thanks, c ya!

AK

I have run into the same issue with a couple of the Russian metal bands I listen to.

Christ people, a little more opened eyes?

Qouting Cliff from this very topic:

It'll get in soon, just doing so many things at the moment that its taking a backseat in terms of features

This problem is related to not having any Unicode support, which is the thing that shows characters from other languages that have different characters, like hebrew, russian, japanese, etc.

"Christ people, a little more opened eyes" - :) Right, logokas, but if you'll read more carefully, you'll recognize, that our problem isnt the same. Its not a fact of showing "strange" signs by playing some tracks with other/unicode IDs.
The problem is, we're not able to play files with "russian/japanes/.." letters directly in the name of track at all!
You see, its a lil difference
1. to be able to play some track and seeing some "???"-signs in the playlist and
:!:
2. the tracks are "unplayable". They couldn't be drag&droped to the playlist.

The second is even the worst...

Also, I think, there are another idea, another point to fix it. Its not the same source of "bug" by displaying. Thats why I wrote my post (hopefully, Cliff get more sparetime and read it :P ).

Hey guys,

The issue is down to Xion not having Unicode support currently. Both reading tags as well as filenames.

Cliff :)

ah, ok :-)

Hi Cliff!

Yo, ok, now its for sure :D
Well, the one thing we can do: to wait and drink some cuple of tea :P :D

Ah, Cliff, I attempt a lil bribe: shall we put together and send you a lil present (girls, cars or whatever)? :P  Maybe it will give you a some "reason" to fix our problem   :D

Just a joke, Cliff! :)

Lol, Its more a matter of finding the time. I work on Xion in my spare time and due to Christmas being just around the corner and it being VERY hot here currently, It's difficult to find time and when I do, its difficult to concentrate in the heat :(

lost count of how many posts there are on this, a sticky with caps title might help heheh :)

Yeah, I'm thinking more and more of a Roadmap. It'll be similar to the TODO list I have here, but then everyone can see it :)
