THE ISLAND
Image

First things first, although all of the pixels in this skin are my own (except for the lighthouse I got from google), this skin is greatly inspired by the set of wallpapers called Strange World. I probably wouldn't have thought of a floating town on my own.

I wanted to keep this skin from looking like a media player skin, so you won't find any obvious buttons by looking at it. Hopefully, with the chart above, and by poking around for a few minutes, the controls will be obvious enough to be usable, while still retaining the scenery.

Putting this skin on a wallpaper that has a grassy knoll and a pretty blue sky looks neat.

I've uploaded it to Cliff, look for it on the skins page soon!

Man, this is probably the most creative skin I've ever seen. A job very well done.

I would like to borrow this idea if it's not a problem with you.

Thanks! Yeah its cool to borrow, it wasn't my origional idea either, I just turned my floating island into a skin instead of a wall!

I'm having a heck of a time re-finding the origional inspiration. I'm pretty sure it was a set of wallpapers called "Strangeworld", and I thiiiiink it was by "Kol".

Here's a wallpaper I made that goes well with it:

(The preview is a blue-grey version, but there is a color version included in the pack)

neat idea, altho even some semi transparent white markers for cbutton icons wouldnt detract from it (possibly)

Ah, yes thanks for finding that Slob. Love Kol's stuff! Don't think I'll add white indicators at this point, I'm pretty happy with it. However, there are indicators when you mouse over. One thing I did want to add was some whisps of clouds towards the bottom, but I couldn't get them to animate without looking choppy.
