Don't own a Mac
But perhaps anybody here who does wants to check it out?
Yet, Crossover and any similar tool that I know are based on Wine - and with Wine it definitly doesn't work. That is, it actually operates smoothly without any problems, the only one of all things that doesn't work is: the shimmer interface

It places a black box instead of the player (playlist etc. works). The reason is that Wine does not yet fully implement all Win API functions, UpdateLayeredWindow, which I guess you use, is still a stub. When they finally implement them (which will probably take years) it should work fine.
There's of course the possibility to use a virtuel machine and I believe to remember that Parallels Desktop has a mode called "Coherence" where it hides the Win Desktop and you can move Win apps around like any other. But it's still a VM ... and running a whole second OS at the same time just to be able to use a program whose benefits are being small and fast? Don't know

but might be an alternative for some people.
Anyway, I'm a Windows user too, don't let you get distracted by this
