I'd like "Play in Xion" to be an option when I right-click on a selection of compatible music files in windows explorer

This should already be the case in build 82. There is 'Play in Xion' and 'Enqueue in Xion' in the right click menu.

Which version of Xion are you using? Which version of Windows are you using?

Cliff :)

Xion Version 1.0 (build 82)
Windows Vista Home Premium (6.00, Build 6000)

I rebooted to see if they would show up, but they didn't. Those options just don't appear in my right-click context menu on my laptop or on my gaming PC (both with the above Xion and Windows versions).

you´re right. Also got Vista home premium. It´s not possible to associate filetypes to Xion (beta 84), also not via configure Xion/file types...

media files seem to be eternally fused to WMP.

Thank you Microsoft for forcing us again...

... Yet I see the next accusation at the European Court of Justice against MS, haha

Ok, this appears to be a Vista only problem. I'll have to look into why when I get a vista machine.

would it be possible to give the option to cascade the menu so we have only one xion entry in the shell (it's getting bloated there with all the apps around).

I did look into this however it seemed overly complicated and convoluted at the time compared to doing it the current way. I assume that's why only a small amount of apps do it.

I do plan to revisit it later :)

as a way around why not let us choose which option we want in the context menu, like play or enqueue, actually do we really need play ? just double click the file seems to make this option pretty irrelevant or am i missing something ?

Play is just the same command as double clicking it. There were requests to add it as users may have a different media player associated for double clicking and want to choose when to play it in Xion. I could add the whole explorer integration as an option though, you are right :)
